History

Our firm was founded over 100 years ago in Berlin by the grandfather of our current senior partner Dr. Gerhart Manitz and was one of the first firms of patent attorneys in Germany.

In order to ensure the best possible service for our clients and an uncomplicated and direct contact with the German Patent Office, Dr. Manitz decided to relocate the firm to Munich in 1963, which then as now is the home of the German Patent Office and the Federal Patent Court. This decision proved highly advantageous because the European Patent Office, which was founded in 1973, likewise chose Munich for its headquarters and we are accordingly located in the city which has developed into Europe‘s intellectual property capital.

As a result of continuous growth we moved our offices in 2001 to a modern office building in a central location directly opposite the European Patent Office. From here our staff, now numbering sixty, look after the interests of our domestic and international clients.
